This is Where You are Now
You're finally at the top!
It's been a long twenty years. In that time, you have worked your way across the world and back, going from Divine Tower to Divine Tower, and now you’re in the thirteenth and final tower. Most people have never even heard of anyone who has gained access into a single tower; even the gods are not permitted to enter these structure as they please. But you have been into all of them.
This has been your longest and most arduous campaign yet. You’ve been in this tower for the last twenty seven days, fighting hordes of phantasmal beasts and besting death traps. At the top of each tower was the secret to entering the next, but now, at the top of the final tower, what will you find? You’re not sure you want to know. Regardless, whether pushed by pride or stubbornness, you work your way up the stairs to the King's Room.
When you finally get to the room, it's different. All the other King's Rooms have been grandiose spaces, packed with treasures and magical objects. Compared to those, this one was … nothing. The room was small and empty. The only thing of note was a pedestal in the center of the room. You walk up to the pedestal and notice a book at rest on top of it.
Your experiences in the towers have taught you to never touch anything you don’t understand, but could this be it? Could this be the ultimate treasure? No way to know without checking. You carefully put your hand on the book and, in that instant, time stops.
Your mind seems to sink into the book. It feels like your falling. You try to stop yourself but you can’t. You just can’t. Your consciousness falls into the book and you see everything. Everything about everything - everything that ever happened, everything happening and everything that will happen. It's too much. You can’t take it. But it won’t stop. It is almost as if the universe itself has decided to tell you all its secret.
Nothing about this makes any sense to you. Or at least you don’t want this to make sense. But now that you can see everything, nothing seems to have made sense before.
You want to scream; you can’t. You want to run; you can’t. You want to die; you can’t.
In that instant, the tapestry of the universe opens up to you.
You see …
